Special Streaming Screening of "Saving Mes Aynak" Sept. 5-8th at The Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival

The Arkhaios Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Film Festival, the largest archaeology film festival in the US, proudly presents free streaming of the award-winning documentary “Saving Mes Aynak" from September 5th through 8th 2024.

The ancient Buddhist city of Mes Aynak, Afghanistan is under imminent threat of destruction as mining commences.  This four-day screening of an updated version of “Saving Mes Aynak” is happening to raise awareness about this incredible and priceless heritage, to celebrate the work of Afghan archaeologists who risked their lives to save it, and to raise awareness in order to stop mining from ever happening at or around the ancient city.

Saving Mes Aynak has won over 30 major awards and has been broadcast on television in over 70 countries. 

Professor and Director Brent E. Huffman will give a video update about the current situation at Mes Aynak included in the stream.
